Power BI Search

In the top menu or using the following link https://www.mmertens.eu/power-bi-search, you reach a customized google search engine. It mainly works by defining the websites in which the search happens, rather than searching the whole internet. In this case, I loaded the URLs of the Power BI / SQL / Azure blogs into the customized engine. I know many good blogs, I did some research to find more, and I especially looked at the profiles of all 364 (as of July 2022) Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) for Data Platform – and added their blogs if they had one. I added some documentation sites like the Microsoft documentation, but also dax.guide or the Tabular Editor documentation.

AdventureWorksDW20xx / Which version to use?

AdventureWorks is one of the standard demo models from Microsoft for SQL Server. There is a data warehouse version (DW), an OLTP and a light OLTP (LT) version. They are versioned according to the SQL Server (on premises) version schema, which is basically the year (there used to be a 2008R2, but this naming schema wasn’t used any more). So the latest version of the datawarehouse (and I’m not interested in OLTP) is AdventureWorksDW2019. Now the confusion starts.

Azure Role Based Certifications for Data

Back in 2019, Microsoft introduced a new model for their certifications, called “role-based certifications”. The old certifications like MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solution Expert) and MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solution Associate) are gone. Also the Microsoft Professional Programs (they were not so well known) are gone. Udacity or Coursera for Azure Machine Learning Certificates?

Es heißt „Nanodegree“ bei Udacity und „Professional Certificate“ bei Coursera. Die erforderliche Prüfung hat die Nummer DP-100. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/azure-data-scientist/ Tatsächlich ist das Coursera-Zertifikat sehr darauf ausgerichtet, sich auf die Microsoft-Prüfung vorzubereiten. Das Udacity-Zertifikat folgt nicht so streng der Liste der erforderlichen Fähigkeiten von Microsoft, aber dennoch schreibt Udacity: “This Nanodegree program will also help prepare students for Microsoft’s Exam DP-100: Designing and Implementing a Data Science Solution on Azure.”
